We have this switch for over 3 years and it works great. Easy setup and it's a name you can trust.
In other words, they wanted me to disconnect the existing switch, send it back to them, and have them ship the new one to me 5-7 days later. I bought this switch about 18 months ago. They have a lifetime warranty, and they replaced it. They would not cross ship a new one to me. The tech said, "Well, you could buy another switch in the meantime." What. However, the one they replaced it with had something rattling around inside it when I got it.
They said they would expedite and cross ship if I paid a charge of $74.99. It went out 6 months ago. So what do I do for work for the week and a half while I wait for the new one. I sent it back and got another. Then, it failed. I asked them how I was supposed to work for a week and a half while I waited.
I replied, "Yes, maybe I'll buy a switch that doesn't break down every 6 months." Don't buy it.
The switch has worked flawlessly. Unfortunately the switch is larger than the one it replaced and we had to get a deeper wall rack for it, but I would purchase again regardless.
Good web administration faster and easy to setup
The fan is surprisingly loud, even for a rack-mounted device intended for a machine room.However, the deal breaker for me (I'm returning the unit I bought) is that the web management interface does not work with Firefox. In fact, it works ONLY with IE on a PC.Given that many other Linksys products work with Firefox, I was pretty surprised.Linksys needs to have a talk with the clue fairy and cut some new firmware.
